The Surf Lodge - Interior Design 2016

I am sort of out of my mind that the summer is here!! (in a good way)....I came across the work of amazing hospitality designer, Robert McKinley today, so I've decided to kick off this week and wind down the fabulous long weekend with a great quote and fantastic spot on my "must visit" list.

It's of no surprise, I love the ocean and ALMOST anything that has to do with it so the thought of spending a few days at a hotel aptly name, The surf lodge works for me and my casual summer mindset...The lodge is located in Montauk, NY. This boutique hotel features a restaurant, small beach, wellness area and bar!

I usually like to start off the week with an inspiring quote in mind. The hotel designer's quote: "In anything creative we always have to think like a child without boundaries".

Cheers to the four day work week. xx

Shelter Loves - Interior Design 2016

I LOVE the excitement that Friday brings! Everyone seems happier on a Fridays, don't you think?? I especially enjoy the Friday that kicks off the summer - Happy Memorial Day!! It'll be tough not to pour a glass of wine before 4 pm today...I've been a good girl all week. xx

Onto my loves....

1. Do you follow Sincerely Jules?? (great name btw, wink) Her insta posts share not only her fabulous, easy going style but her jet setting lifestyle and collaborations with SoludosCheck out her blog here.  These adorable espadrilles are available here. I am guessing these or another pair will wind up in my basket before the end of today! I kick off every summer with a pair or two of espadrilles.

2. Another pair! If these look like this on.. I'm sold. Did I mention a number of espadrilles are on sale!!???

3. This combo of tile, raw wood and copper is fabulous.

4. Pretty much. Life can get tricky. I feel like I am always trying to perfect "it" along with everything I do. (my eating, my body, my design work, my parenting, my home etc. etc. etc.)  It can get plain exhausting...Sometimes winging it works great, if not better!! I mean, don't get me wrong, education is amazing but instincts are pretty wonderful too.

5. I'm not a bug person but this bracelet is all kinds of cute!!

6. I am sure I have mentioned my love for Nantucket in the past!! Luckily for me it is only a 45 minute ride down RTE 3 and a one hour fast ferry cruise away. I won't make it there this weekend for Fugawi but I can still admire the great architecture from afar. At one point this was Tommy Hilfiger's weekend estate..

Cheers!!

The Home of... Keiko and Malachi - Interior Design 2016

I love this chilled out apartment in Pasadena, CA that I found over at Design Sponge. The home belongs to Cartoonist Keiko Brodeur and Illustrator Malachi Ward and was at one time their home and studio, now the apartment is the perfect little space mixing a healthy dose of both eclectic tastes and minimalism.

I really love the colour of the bathroom, the awesome wall hanging above the sofa and that little shelf in the kitchen full of handmade pottery. Such a lovely home, I would feel very happy here.

Please check out the full tour on Design Sponge

My visit to Anthopologie, Bath - Interior Design 2016

Hemisphere Hook From Anthopologie

A couple of weeks ago I took a day off work to go to Bath to explore the new-ish Anthopologie shop. I have been admiring Anthopologie's web store for some years but not living near London had never actually been, and after finding out there was a store in the next town had to pay a visit...

It was a dangerous mission. Saving to buy a new house and going to look at home furnishings are not compatible!!  Typically I was actually blown away and could have come away with so much, but I resisted and just brought the Hemisphere Hook above.

It is a beautiful hook, and is so much bigger in person :)

My only regret is that I didn't buy the matching knobs... even though I don't have anywhere to actually put them, one day I may!!

Other favourites of the day were the Crystal bar Hook and The Small Copper Plated colander, and the way above my budget, Petal Perch serving Board

Cassie is the founder of the media site, Womanista. Charles is a lead singer for Lady Antebellum. The main living area of their Nashville home recently had a revamp. I'm loving the clean sensibility and layered textures of it all! A number of the items featured are available through, One King's Lane. Enjoy and Happy Monday. xx

Big Cat Wallpaper from Renn Designs

Last week I discovered Chantal Renn from Renn Designs and her quite frankly magical children's wallpaper designed to 'inspire young minds' . The above wallpaper is called 'Big cats' and although I agree it is perfect for a child's room, I can also see this in an 'adult room'... I would love this in my bathroom!!!

With more wallpapers on the way, Chantal is certainly one to look out for...

Victorian Restoration Project..... Entrance - Interior Design 2016

Victorian Restoration : Tiled Entrance hall
Victorian Restoration Entrance Hall.. Tiled

I have been a bit absent from Moon to Moon for a while, I have still been Pinning and posting on Instagam but my head has been really muddled lately. Juggling a toddler, 2 jobs, a blog, a social life , learning to drive and a relationship is not an easy task and finding time to sit down at a computer at the end of the day when all I want to do is sleep (at 8pm) is getting tough!

.... But on top of everything... there are some exciting but slightly nerve wracking changes coming....So like I said I have actually been pinning like mad!! We have recently had our house valued ready to sell and have found a REALLY beautiful house (just come back from the second viewing, hence the over excited ramblings you see before you). It is actually my dream home.... a reasonably large Victorian house... in need of total renovation!!!

I spent my childhood moving from one huge renovation project to another, from Victorian London houses, to 4 story Shropshire Town Houses, to 13th Century Welsh cottages so this kind of stuff is in my blood........

I currently live in a well positioned (truly great area), but sinfully ugly and very uninspiring brick of a house (hence why you never see my own home on Moon to Moon), so the prospect of having a project is all consuming!!!

....Only trouble is the owners are being unreaslistic about the price they want for it, especially as it needs a new roof, kitchen, flooring, etc.... and our budget is minimal, and largely depends on the sale price of the current property.... We may be lucky, but maybe not... watch this space!

So anyway I am doing all this research and I have a full secret ' Victorian Renovation Dream Home' Board on Pinterest so rather than the hard work go to waste I thought maybe I would share on here.

Regular readers may be surprised about the clean white walls in the entrance halls above, but there is currently dark red carpet and 40 a day cigarette smoke stained walls in this house so I have been focusing on how to make the entrance lighter.... plus check out those tiles!

But if you mix up the photos above with the photos below, you can get a better idea of the vibe I would be going for.

Some Farrow and Ball paint, a Moroccan Star Light, stripped wooden floor boards and a Kilim runner are all in my plans....

.... and breathe Gabi!

What do you guys think? Have any of you taken on a restoration project and had good or bad luck? Any pointers, tips or words of caution greatly appreciated...
