Shelter in The Boston Globe - Interior Design 2016

It is always exciting to be in the Press. Last weekend The Boston Globe shared a recent project that I completed in Boston. Thank you to my wonderful photographer Sarah and to Jaci Conry for the feature. Read more about this South End condo here. Gah! - Interior Design 2016

The final few weeks of summer are sort of a shit show. Camp ends and the school year prep begins. Most of my clients' are usually crazy busy with end of summer hoopla too. My six and nine year old began school today and although a new year always marks a fresh start it also reminds me of how quickly the time goes (sniff, sniff). I am happy I spent some extra days with them this summer, but now I am looking forward to making waves this Fall with work!!! I'm kicking off the day with this BANANAS good home designed by David Netto and David Hottenroth in Southhampton. This beauty was far too large for a "cottage love" post but it's a beach house none the less. (imagine??) I thought it was a smart idea to squeeze in one last summer post. Cheers! xx

Crushing on.... - Interior Design 2016

As we usher in Fall, I find myself drawn to updated interiors with warm, rustic elements. This blend of old and new is approachable and comforting. Want to achieve this look? Try warm wood moments, worn rugs, brass and vintage lighting. Take a peek at this of the moment look...

I adore everything about this

Autumn vibes..... Tips for getting ready for the chillier months - Interior Design 2016

Local Milk

Ashley neese

Autumn (fall) is on its way...

I was recently asked by Nyde to write three tips for the transition from Summer to Autumn, and it has got me feeling really excited about all the things I get up to in the colder months.

So I thought i would do a little list of three things i have been up to to prepare now i know Autumn's on her way

1) Incense
Although I love my incense in the summer months i seem to prefer just the open windows and the noise of the wildlife/ city outside to the thick smell of incense. This morning however, it was pouring down and a bit chilly and I dug out my incense box, lit my nag champa and instantly felt so relaxed and snuggly. This season I really want to try some Zenbunni Holy Smoke incense, it has been on my list for too long!!

2) A thick Rug
As I have begun focusing a lot more on my yoga practice (and am considering doing my teacher training) I have been cleaning out and decluttering my home, trying to get my home to feel more relaxing and more well, yoga!

We were also selling (and sold it but then decided not to move, but that is another story) so we decided to neutralize (why do we sellers do this) a little to get some interest so brought a huge cream rug it was the Adum one from Ikea ( sadly I couldn't afford a Beni Ourain). Although usually a thrifty, second hand loving mama, this rug has actually really lightened my sitting room and is so cozy under my toes. Perfect for my always bare feet in the colder months!!

3) Food
I am so happy that it is nearly stew and soup season! Again i adore all the beautiful colourful fruit of the summer months but there is nothing more magical than a warming bowl of hearty vegetable stew and chunky bread......

Roll on Autumn!!

What are your favorite things about Autumn?

Spotted: DIY Vintage Rug Runner - Interior Design 2016

During my searches this week I found this awesome DIY Vintage runner tutorial over at Wit & Delight.  Sadly I haven't got beautiful wooden floorboards to surround such a runner but I will be keeping this in my Pinterest 'future home' folder for further reference...

I just love the colours in these rugs, looks so good with the crisp white walls and wooden floors.... swoon!!

Check out the tutorial over at Wit & Delight

Love the look: Back to School - Interior Design 2016

Hello, hello! My kiddos head back to school next week!! Hallelujah  I mean that's too bad. I don't know about you but my kids are at each other's throats...All kidding aside, I adore them and live for the summer but this Mama is ready for the school routine and longer work days! Did I just say, longer work days? I did. Thank god I love my job.

Most of the items above are self explanatory but here are a few notes!

- My daughter informed me she wants this entire outfit, purse and all for school!!
- Those glitter sneakers are in my cart for Emmi. Mini Boden is having a back to school sale!! It's the only way to shop there...I love their sales.
- We've had great luck around here with Pottery Barn back packs and their turn around is fast! They are on sale too!!!
- This field jacket is for all the Mommies who walk or wait in the cold getting their little ones to school. It will also keep us warm at the endless flag, soccer, lax, etc. etc. etc. games.

Best of luck with your back to school events and children!!  I will be back in full force next week...woot woot!!  xx

The stained Glass cabin of... Neile Cooper - Interior Design 2016

This fabulous stained glass cabin is the work space of super talented stained glass artist Neile Cooper from New Jersey.  Neile sells her hand made stained glass item on etsy.... which she makes is her beautiful stained glass workshop in the woods behind her house in Sparta New Jersey.

Neile became a stained glass window maker but when the recession hit and the work dried up Neile instead decided to make jewellery

“Part of the inspiration for doing this cabin was that I missed doing large scale work," she says. "I wanted a big project that I could really immerse myself in. If no one was going to hire me to make windows, I would just make them for myself.”

The windows were salvaged by Neile and her mother from craigslist and car boot sales and her partners dad helped put the construction together....

Neile spends her first hour and a half of the day in the cabin doing yoga and drinking coffee..... Perfect!!!!

Jenni Kayne with OKL - Interior Design 2016

With Fall quickly approaching I'm finding my thoughts shifting to cozy fires, warm neutrals and cooler, crisp mornings. I'm usually sad to see the summer go but I'm also ready for a change in pace and a routine for my children!! I'm kicking off the week with the sunny, bright, organic living room of fashion designer Jenni Kayne. She recently down sized from her Beverly Hills home (pictured below) and teamed up with One King's Lane to revamp her new living room. To purchase the look yourself visit OKL. Check out Jenni's clothing line here

And here is a glance at Jenni's Former Home. It just sold for a mere 12.9 million - gulp.
