in the kitch - Interior Design 2016

I am heading out of town with my kids for a few days (although, I feel like I shouldn't) for a little R and R. Spring is going to be bananas busy so I am gearing up. I've had kitchens' on my mind for days, so I'll leave you all with this beauty to consider! xx

The Home of Painter... Christian de Laubadere - Interior Design 2016

I love finding the source for one of my favourite photos and then discovering more of the same home. The top photo has surfaced many a time on Moon to Moon but only now have I discovered a full set of photos of Artist Christian de Laubadere's Shanghai home photographed by Ricardo Labougle for World of Interiors. This beautiful home is wonderfully eclectic and I just love the layers of rugs and textiles in de Laubadere's home...

Below is a small excerpt from a 2013 interview with the French artist and his girlfriend from the Global Times

"I like the kitchen very much, which I think is the symbol of a family," de Laubadère said. "The only thing I always kept from my hometown in France here in Shanghai is a cookbook about French cuisine."

Several years ago, in order to create a huge painting for a hotel in Lhasa, de Laubadère had to move out of his small residence and studio on Huashan Road. He rented a deserted factory warehouse hidden on the ground floor of a commercial building in Changning district and converted it into a house, painting the exposed brick wall white and filling the 220-square-meter space with odds and ends he has collected over the years.

"This is our third residence in Shanghai, and the largest one," de Laubadère's girlfriend told the Global Times. "He was so excited after finding this space since it finally gave him an opportunity to display all of his Chinese porcelain, antiques and handicrafts which he bought from the antique and flea markets on Fangbang Road and Henan Road in Shanghai, and also other places he's traveled to, like Tibet, Taiwan and India."

Entering through a thick cloth curtain door, the space is divided into a living area at the front and the painting studio in the back. The living area consists of a reception space, a kitchen and a bedroom above built by iron and wood beams. Through an iron staircase, the bedroom connects itself with the space below to form a loft.

Shelter loves... - Interior Design 2016

Happy Monday! I am sneaking this typical Friday post in today. Hopefully you have the day off! I am working a half day and meeting a friend at Eataly in Boston this afternoon. Clearly, I have some pretty in pink moments on my mind this week! With spring right around the corner, I am giddy for pretty florals, tulle and the sophistication that brushed brass lends to a room. Cheers! xx

1. Wisteria is having 20% off their entire site today. This bed comes in two shades and would look amazing in a guest bedroom!
2. Wide plank white oak floors are what I'm currently loving. They look equally fresh with light and dark colors.
3. I saw this GORGEOUS rug via Lauren Conrad. It's from this site. I also find a number of amazing rugs on Etsy for great prices!
4. This stool would look so glamorous in the right spot.
5. I have a fascination with art and history, so I was thrilled to come across and learn more about the stunning art-work by Kerry James Marshall. The often large-scale narrative history paintings by Kerry James Marshall are influenced and inspired by his life as a young man growing up in Alabama and South Central Los Angeles. Kerry most often paints about African-American life, history, pop culture and the effects of the Civil Rights movement.
6. Across all facets of life!!
7. J.Crew does it again! I love everything about these looks! I have a tough time wearing yellow but these feminine frocks are divine. I secretly want to borrow my daughter's tulle skirts (but clearly I can't). This pink beauty may need to come and live with me!

Love the look - work uniform pieces - Interior Design 2016

Happy Friday pretty peeps!! I've been designing like a fool around here and taking in all sorts of inspo! Today, I'm sharing my daily uniform, two ways. One is when I'm out and about on client meetings, site visits and shopping trips. The other, is when I am working from my office or running to get my cherubs. Here are the deets. Have a fabulous weekend and if you're heading on vacation, Bon Voyage, wish I could join you. I'll be heading up North next week, but in all honesty, I would love to be jetting to a warm, sunny island.

Dressy days:

1. Pearls
2. Drake bell sleeve blouse for J.Crew - I own this, and it's adorable. It isn't too bit looking like a number of the bell sleeve tops.

The Tiny Home of .... Lucy Duval - Interior Design 2016

Lily has whittled down her possessions to fit her tiny Christchurch home, but she has trouble parting with books; the bookcase beside the door – her first building project – was modified to fit the house; the stained-glass door was an extravagance she doesn't regret: "I look at it every day."

Lucy's tiny 14sqm tiny house is in Christchurch New Zealand and is the most homely of all the tiny houses I have seen. I just love that beautiful stained glass door and the inbuilt  shelves. Proving that you don't have to be minimalist in a minimal space.

Happy Valentine's Day - Interior Design 2016

I wanted to wind down my evening by wishing you all a very Happy Valentine's Day. I hope you had some time to enjoy the people you love in your life today! I had a fun meal with my children. They requested breakfast for dinner, so I cooked up some waffles, made fresh whipped cream and sprinkled raspberries on top! Dinner was a hit and to top it off, they both went to sleep for me!! That in itself was a gift.

There is something about a splash of cherry red that warms my heart. Miles Redd certainly pulls off this cheery hue better than most!! He has a knack for choosing the perfect shade. Peace and good night. xoxoxo

A sweet little cob home surrounded by trees - Interior Design 2016

Sadly I can't tell you anything about these cool little Cob homes as the site I hound them doesn't have any information about them at all. But that bath room is just too awesome not to share... cob walls, a round window and indoor ferns... i am sold!

Cottage Love #54 - Interior Design 2016

Afternoon, lovies!! I'm taking a much needed break from a kitchen design I'm working on. Don't get me wrong, I'm loving the process but needed a little breather from computer drawing.

Today, I'm sharing the Better Homes and Garden feature of Julianne Hough's adorable home (a.k.a Jules - my nickname too). This incredibly cozy nest is just what the doctor ordered on this frigid snowy day! It doesn't get much more inviting. And that kitchen??? GAH! If I did not have so many friends and family in New England, I'd move to southern California in a heartbeat!!

Shelter Loves - Interior Design 2016

Hi all! It's 11:30 am and I've gone to breakfast and snuck in a full workout! I'm keeping the pace up and finally have ten minutes to sit down and finish this post that I started on Friday. My kids missed three days of school last week (2 due to snow) and I'm praying they have school tomorrow! I've got things all bright and sunny on my mind today! (and in general)

1. Zanna Roberts Rassi's layered, textural play room is sophisticated and fun. I am definitely getting those pillow cases for my bedroom! I recently changed the color palette to pink, cocoa, white and coral with hints of gold and I'm liking it! Now to narrow down the wallpaper choice! I'm thinking something organic and cool for the little bathroom. I love most of the One King's Lane home tours and room redo's!
2. Audrey was fabulous and so are most of her quotes.
3. Charlotte Rampling's carefree, natural style is a favorite. My daughter prefers to wear her hair tousled too.
4. I've been eyeing Teil Duncan's oversized figure studies.
5. Not sure I'll ever tire of stripes...Every season I find a new version to purchase! I love how this dress is a bit more fitted. I am all for a long maxi dresses but some of them aren't very flattering unless you're tiny!
6. I could collect sunglasses...haha. I think I need this pink pair for Florida!
7. Okay, so I've been obsessed with Cassie De Pecol's amazing stories and her mission to visit every country around the world. Her Instagram account and drive are fabulous!! Read more about her journey and goal here.  She has a passion for "women's achievement while promoting peace". (insert 10,000 likes!!!) Read more about Cassie's - Expedition 196 here.

The home of.... Nicolas Lefebvre and daughter Anahi - Interior Design 2016

How stunning is this beautiful Parisian apartment of Nicolas Lefebvre and his 6 year old daughter Anahi found on French blog The Socialite Family?

Nicolas spent much of his early life traveling around the globe, which is evident in his choice of decor. I love the warm natural hues, the natural seagrass carpet and mix of textiles from around the world, so relaxing!!
