Forgive my late night post, this day got away from me! Wishing you all a wonderful weekend full of goodness! I got to spend the night chatting away with a high-school friend, I feel thankful for that! :) xo

1. I've been obsessing over floral wallpaper lately (see earlier post). I have a sample of this beauty on the way to my house. I still have not pulled the trigger on my bedroom bathroom wallpaper. This is Kanchou by Brunschwig and Fils ( when certain aspects of my life are sticky, I tend to lose myself in design, it's therapeutic. I am sure most of my readers will agree!!)
2. I have an affection for a good scallop design. I'd love to invest in a set of these dishes! 
3. Ummm, the stylish but comfy slide trend is working for me! Yes please, to these!
4. Self control is everything. Every frustrating, angry moment eventually passes!
5. I love hammock season, there's something very soothing about swinging under the trees on a warm, sunny day. 
6. I appreciate a client who will take risks with paint. This Ashley Whittaker moment is divine. Via House Beautiful.

Lighten up, brighten up! - Interior Design 2016

I'm currently designing three kitchen projects and a few bathrooms. They are rewarding jobs because, not only do I get to put my mixologist skills to work for the finish and color selections but my Master's degree training comes into play. I love envisioning how ceilings will meet and planes intersect. One of the projects has a smaller dated kitchen that we are trying to open up, expand and lighten visually as much as possible. In fact, the before shots of our project remind me a little bit of this Ojai's project by the talented Amber Interiors. (girlfriend is on fire).. Check out this beautiful transformation. I would LOVE to raise the ceiling, just like this!! And look at the power of warm, white paint!

Flower Power in the powder room ... - Interior Design 2016

Hola! How's things?? The weather has been dreadful here. I can't wait for the gloomy days to end. I've been on the hunt for a perfect wallpaper for a client's powder room and these cheery colorful flower prints made me happy today!

If you are looking for a personal monogram than CeCe DuPraz is your source! She does a beautiful job!! And this Schumacher, Seychelles wallpaper is to die for!!! I can't get it off my mind.

Shelter Loves... - Interior Design 2016

TGIF, besides my earlier rant that I am dealing with, I can't really complain. This week, one of my fabulous clients flew me to Texas to help her with the design on her homes. We were in the city and the country, it was a great trip and the eighty degree temperatures helped to lift my spirits. Here's what is on my mind today.

1. We are stuck in a cold rut here in Boston. I'm craving warmth and color. This pretty beaded necklace would do. 
2. I'm adoring the feminine details and springy mix of color in this little girl's room.
3. This is true but sometimes difficult to master.
4. Spring, where are you??? I want to wear adorable, light clothing, like this TB top.
5. Okay, so about Texas....There were so many pretty homes and great restaurants there. It was really exciting to see that my client had some wonderful furniture pieces to work with and a fabulous art collection....see more on #6. She also took me to her farm house, which we have been working on remotely. The countryside and her home were gorgeous and frankly just what I needed. The world works in mysterious ways. 
6. My client had a number of these crosses in an array of sizes. They are hand made of ceramic by the artist Barbara Biel, available in an array of sizes, they can be hung on the wall or used as paper weights. I'm absolutely getting one to hang in my bedroom. I love the hearts too.

Spring Fever! - Interior Design 2016

I'd be lying if I did not say that I was having an intense and emotional week. It seems one thing is snowballing after the other. I am hanging on tight and hoping everything comes together as it is supposed to. A huge thank you and big hugs to my dear family and friends for always being there for me during the tough times (you know who you are, xo) 

I don't know about you, but I need a little spring fever! This weather change can't come soon enough. Warm days, no jacket required and floral blooms are not only good for the eyes but also for the soul!

First off, Happy Spring! We've been awaiting this day for some time and now that my bracket is totally busted with the Duke loss last night, I'll be shifting my focus onto everything happy and warm weather related! I need a little cheering up and can't wait to head to one of my favorite warm weather destinations this Summer - Nantucket. Take a peek at this little Ack beauty featured in Coastal Living magazine. Shelter Loves.. - Interior Design 2016

Happy St. Paddy's day. Irish or not, I think we can all appreciate a little emerald green (and kisses)! It's long been a favorite shade and flattering on most. Boston is a very Irish city (obvs.) so people go a little bananas around here today. I'm running a road race tomorrow morning, so I'll be sitting on my butt, in sweats, watching March Madness basket-ball tonight. I fill out a bracket every year, it's fun to watch the games!

1. I adore patterned shades and you can't go wrong with Peter Dunham's fiddle leaf iconic print. Purchase shades and sconces at Furbish. 
2. Sophie's whimsical art and mobiles are adorable. My daughter loves to draw butterflies, we'll have to try something like this out!

7. I need to focus on the exterior of my house this Summer. I am toying with the idea of a white exterior and shutters with a deeper shade on the door. Someday I would love to redo the facade and incorporate a copper awning similar to this!

The cosy yurt home of... Alexandra Fuller - Interior Design 2016

The yurt in question belongs to Wendell Field, a 49-year-old artist. Ms. Fuller went to see him about a painting last spring, and never left. As cunningly put together as the inside of a sailboat, this Hobbit house is one of a dozen in the yurtian community that Mr. Field calls home, where each yurt-dweller pays a little less than $400 a month for a spot. (Other neighbors include bison, antelope and the odd rampaging moose.)

Mr. Field inherited his yurt eight years ago from a friend who died in a climbing accident. The other day, Dilly, an elderly corgi, and Edgar, a dog of indeterminate provenance, dozed breathily on what little floor space there was, as Mr. Field served tea made on his diminutive wood-burning stove. Ms. Fuller, clearly exhausted, drifted in and out of a nap.

Henri Emile Matisse - Interior Design 2016

For as long as I can remember, French born Henri Matisse has been a favorite
artist/painter/sculptor of mine. His colorful forms and paintings often depicted nature,
still life and nudes. I was thrilled to read that a large collection of rarely seen works will
be on exhibition at the Boston MFA this spring from April 9th - July 9th. 
Read more about the exhibition here. You can be sure I won't be missing this one. 

"What I dream of is an art of balance, of purity and serenity, devoid of troubling or depressing subject-matter, an 
art which could be for every mental worker, for the businessman as well as the man of letters, for example, a soothing, 
calming influence on the mind, something like a good armchair which provides relaxation from physical fatigue."

I am pretty sure I bought "Interior with Dog" in Baltimore or Boston in my early 20's. I had the print framed back then and it is currently hanging in my hallway. 

I purchased this over sized poster, had it mounted on foam core and hung it in all of my dorm rooms and apartments for years and into my late twenties.  (Open Window - 1905)

In the 1940's and over the last fourteen years of his life Henri turned primarily to paper cut outs or as he referred to the practice: painting with scissors. After being diagnosed with cancer and in a wheel chair, Henri found it difficult to paint. He however found a creative resurgence with the paper cutting technique. His assistants painted sheets of paper with gouache and Matisse then cut them into colorful, lively compositions and collages. This period of work is one of my favorites!
