I am currently working on a couple of kitchen designs. Selecting a unique hood is a great way to personalize your kitchen. Not only are they functional but beautiful. Whether you are a modernists, traditionalist or somewhere in between there is a hood out there for you. I am currently loving the "french" versions that have a little more interest, shape and detail. A statement hood works in both large and small kitchens. Here is a round up of some of my favorites.

Happy, happy Friday!! My regularly scheduled posts will resume next week. I'm sharing a look today that I'll be wearing later this evening..you see, we have a fair in town and my kids are of course begging me to go. This is a dress down event for sure.
I am also taking advantage of the final days of summer because come September it cools down quickly around here and I am NOT ready for that. So my favorite fall looks? I'll be sharing those come September. I will be scooping up the last summer pieces at sales prices - one of my favorite things to do. xx

Shelter Loves... - Interior Design 2016

Hello, hello! I usually post this series on Fridays but this week is sort of upside down. I'm heading up North for one last summer hoorah with the kiddies before they head back to school next week. I have lots of things on my radar and can't wait to share them with you in September!! For today, here is what I am eyeing this week!!

1. Now is the time to scoop up amazing sandals for your winter trips and next summer. These cuties are on sale. Purchase here. 
2. I don't get too much sun because of my skin cancer history. Beautycounter's shimmer oil not only moisturizes my skin but it leaves a subtle shimmer and glow. 
3. I wish breakfast would always look this chic with my children. Lauren has super style. This image is taken on the terrace of her Parisian duplex. 
4. I spent the weekend in P-town. It is fun and charming without too much fuss! The beaches are also pristine.
5. Yes please, to a vanity nook with a brass desk. 
6. I don't want to rain on your parade but I've got back to school on my mind. Some days when I get lucky my daughter will let me brush and style her hair. Here are some adorable  hair styles...and most of them are up do's..Something I'll be doing with Emmi's hair for obvious reasons..gulp..

Love the look - back to school - Interior Design 2016

Holy hell things have been bananas. I've also had some technology glitches! Ummm, how it is already the third week in August?? School starts in less than two weeks here, I need to get on my back to school shopping game! I still like to take the kids out separately. I also use it as a good time to purge their closets of small or trashed clothing....today I'm sharing my must have back to school pieces for girls. Next up, I'll post for the boys..(although my son is much easier, sport shorts, tshirts, and new sneaks do the trick)

I've been pulling together a kitchen design today and came across this stunner while searching for bar stools. (I am always on the hunt for comfortable stools that I have not seen 1,000 times). The warm details and interesting mix of textures and materials won me over with this one! Now to locate the source of those stools....

Ruthie Sommers in Veranda - Interior Design 2016

I have long loved Ruthie Sommer's design work. I was thrilled to see her latest project in this month's Veranda. The entire July-August 2017 issue does not disappoint. Her mix of prints and unexpected color choices are beautiful. I too love to use unique palettes and we are not afraid of color over here at Shelter! This Newport, summer home (imagine-gah) was designed for a friend of Ruthies'. It is a perfect example of classic design with a modern twist. The vibrant contrasts and repeated patterns are fabulous!! Enjoy.....

Shelter loves sneak peek .... - Interior Design 2016

Cool house, pool house! - Interior Design 2016

Studo-Lifestyle (pictured above) did a fabulous job on the pool house design for a California home. I think I'd just need to move right in for the summer. The clean design, ship lap and steel windows are gorgeous. And the bar window? 👌👌👌

Shelter Loves - Interior Design 2016

Hello loves and happy Saturday. I needed a peaceful work day and I am getting just that. Cloudy days are sometimes a blessing. Hope you're having a splendid weekend. hugs and kisses .... here are this week's faves.

1. Kelly is still one of the coolest cats around. She shares her entertaining tips and some beautiful bar set up photos in this post, this blog is delightful too.
2. Sometimes you just need a good cry and a reminder that everything is going to be okay. It usually is but life can throw you some curve balls.
3. Nordstrom's HUGE anniversary sale ends tomorrow!!!! Get the goods while you can. These Rag and Bone cutie booties are still available!!!
4. I am always inspired by travel and designs from afar. This is an African mud cloth pattern that I pinned this week.

Love the look - Lee Radziwill - Interior Design 2016

A group of us are heading to an Earth, Wind and Fire concert on Saturday night soooo of course I need to wear a look inspired by the carefree 70's that night. I may actually be able to round up a few things around my house but I'm also heading to a nearby vintage clothing store tomorrow. There is something about authentic pieces that capture a time period resonates and intrigues me. I've shared my love of Jackie O's style but her younger sister Lee Radziwill was equally glamorous and a bit less buttoned up. (which I love!). I've posted Lee's Parisian pied de terre and all it's glory in the past but it's just too good not to share again. I've also created an inspirational outfit for my "love the look" post.  Lee often felt out-shined by her older sis but she was and still is not only stunning but sophisticated socialite who has worn many hats! Here's a peek!!
