This and that..... - Interior Design 2016

I am off to pick up Matty from the airport so I only have time for a quick post....He's sounding pretty spent after spending a week in Rio at the Olympics. I'm sure he was partying it up a bit!

As I've mentioned I'm getting my home ready to be photographed this Fall!!!  I'll move onto the outside revamp next summer and possibly an addition after that. I desperately need a mudroom! I also have been searching high and low for a wallpaper for the small bathroom off of my bedroom. I needed to incorporate the colors in my home and in the existing bedroom with my paper choice. I often choose wallpapers first but I originally had just painted my bathroom.

Here's my choice - Paradise Found by Anthropologie! (Even the name is cool - hehe)
My bedroom has pink, white, navy and blue in it! This paper should compliment it perfectly. I also have a green velvet bench that I am dying to use in the space!! I'll keep you posted on the status photos.  Anthro also opened a new store near my home at Derby Shops in Hingham! I'm thrilled to have one close by.

And how I would LOVE a new mudroom to look: (image via Traditional Home)

I'd add a fun herringbone floor but the built in details are fabulous!!

Tea: Olivia Clementine - Interior Design 2016

Licorice Spice Tea

I have to be honest I am a total sucker for good packaging and Olivia Clementine teas win in both label and on the corked lid glass jar front..... but they are not just pretty packages the teas are also totally yummy!

I have tried both Olivia's Chaga (you can see my Wild Chaga hot chocolate recipe here) and her Moonrise Tea and they didnt last long... so i was especially happy to find out that Olivia has a new range of teas, including Chamomile and Lavender, Ginger Citrus and Licorice Spice.

Olivia Clementine Teas can be found over at Olivia Clementine

Insta-peek - Interior Design 2016

I just realized I have not shared my world with you via insta lately. It's been an action packed but fun filled summer..Here is what's going on lately!!

Here is a little peek at my design studio. It's pretty much finished and I had it photographed. I'll be sharing all of the images soon, I was really happy with how the photographs turned out. The reason I rented the space was because of the great light quality and the close proximity to my home, it is super convenient. The paint I used is all from Ace Hardware and is the Clark+Kensington's line, Walls: Designer White 1066, Trim: Sheer Mist N-C9, Doors: Midnight Stroll in high gloss N-C16. Photographs are by Ann-Marie Rollo
Here is a snap of Lindsey and I working hard to finish up a design project at my studio!
We had the most amazing time in P-town. We ate, drank and were very merry!! While there, I was sure to pop into one of my favorite design shops - Shor. I am loving the hydrangea trees and think I may need to plant these at my home.

I was at my friend Julia's home the other day. She had a lush cutting garden full of giant cosmos, zinnias and marigolds. She has beautiful flower arrangements all summer from her gorgeous garden!! I can't wait to do this very thing next summer! I do have a veggie garden that is starting to yield cukes, lettuce and tomatoes.

I will share more photos on this little peek later. I recently re-vamped an old oak dresser for my son's room. I used Amy Howard's liming wax and one step paint in black. I love the way the wood looks limed, it was a fairly easy process and it truly transformed the piece. I detailed the steps on Ace's Instagram page two weeks ago. See it here.

My son turned "9" on Saturday, hard to believe that nine years went so fast. I took him into Boston for a quick lunch trip on Saturday. It was fun spending time alone together. Here he is on Red Auerbach's lap. The irony is my son is a Celtics fan but is wearing a Steph Curry shirt!

Shelter Loves... - Interior Design 2016

OLA!! (that is for Matty) He is enjoying the Olympics in Brazil for a week. Have a blast Mattykins! I know a lot of people have been down on Rio but I am sure there is a lot of good to be found there too!! Go USA!

Okay, I'm not going to lie and won't bitch for long...but summer is a bit nutso. I'll just be perfectly honest: I love my kids more than life itself but balancing my business, my work with Ace and the blog along with their summer routine (or lack there of) I feel a little off balance..oh and my wine consumption seems to go up the crazier life gets. (just in the evenings though, so it's all good). My new assistant is kicking butt, so that has been a huge help! Thanks Lindsey!! Here is what got my attention this week!!

1. I have been taking some time to enjoy this beach this summer. A highlight is collecting pretty shells with my children! I try to enjoy the simple pleasures in life and this is one of them.

2. Nordstroms' HUGE sale end tomorrow so be sure to scoop up the goodies at amazing prices. This pillow is not on sale but it a part of their home collection. I'm changing out my living room pillows soon and this one is a contender.

3. This is sort of funny...but true. Keeping calm and composed always helps!

4. I love design details in kitchens. This Kelly Wearstler paper looks fabulous as a cabinet backing.

5. I'm not thinking about Fall yet but how great is this sweater coat and her sandals!!?

6. Be sure not to miss all the great deals at Nordstrom's semi annual sale - like these boots!!!!

Happy Weekend!

Miles on Fire Island...... - Interior Design 2016

I'm a fan of Miles Redd's style. So it was fun to come across his Fire Island vacation home. This 3,000 sq. foot bungalow is perfectly placed between the bay and the beach. It's completely different than his maximalist style we so often see. His laid back abode is simple and has kept with a number of the original details such as the Malm fireplace and natural cedar walls. It looks to be the perfect escape from his hectic career and lifestyle in NYC. “Even though I will always love beautiful things, I’ve relaxed my hold on them,” Redd says. “At this stage in my life I’m starting to love beautiful space even more.” - I couldn't agree more, with age seems to come this longing for more simplicity in life.....See more details and images of Mile's home here
