shelter loves... - Interior Design 2016
I hope you smoothly transitioned into the back to school routine. I've mentioned it before but I am ready for some structure at home and a CALM September. (besides living on a soccer field) I am excited to build fires in my fireplace, finish up my new office space, organize my home and get back to preparing recipes using fresh in-season foods. Here's what I'm loving this week:
1. Layered dressing. The "puff" sleeve and feminine bows are making a come back this season. Here is a cute puff sleeve top. I find this style very flattering.
2. I fully appreciate flowers that bloom into the Fall season. Dahlia's are available in a number of varieties, shapes and colors. They make a fantastic cutting garden.
3. I have a thing for great camel colored boots. Camel matches almost any shade and is a nice break from black. These booties are made in Italy and would surely become a wardrobe staple.
4. Try matching the trim to the walls for an updated, unique look in a room or two. I love how this room mixes modern and more classic elements.
5. Eleanor was a wise women. Sometimes we ignore our instincts, I find they are more often than not, spot on. Follow your heart.
6. I purchased this body wash recently. It's fabulous!! I'm hooked.

Change of season... - Interior Design 2016
Dare I say, I am looking forward to a change of seasons. I LOVE the summer, this one in particular was full of change, live music, fun plans and travel. I am, however, looking forward to my children getting into a routine (minus the homework battles) and to refocusing my attention on my business, blog and home. I'm drawn to the warm, organic spaces in this beautiful home. I am also pretty sure I need steel windows in my life someday! Design by Mitzi Maynard. If you crave more color in design, like I often do, you could add a splash with artwork, textiles and interesting Turkish rugs.

Shelter Loves... - Interior Design 2016
Happy Weekend!! I've been playing catch up around my house today but I did manage to squeeze in an hour to blog...Here's what has been on my radar...
1. Basically, everthing on the life style blog Eye Swoon - including her glorious kitchen. (Which I have shared in the past)
2. 💖
3. Sexy, feminine bohemian blouses.
4. Today, a friend reminded me of Kelly Reemsten's paintings. They are empowering and gorgeous. This one is aptly titled, Rise Up. 2019. Her bio is worth a read:
The paintings for which Kelly Reemtsen is best known are elaborate depictions of the role of the modern day woman.
"Strikingly feminine at first glance, with their bodies adorned in fashionable designer dresses and runway-worthy accessories, Reemtsen’s women are not simply pinup girls or arm candy. Rather, the women, while dressed to the nines, undertake household, and often, traditionally masculine tasks. The objects they hold, from dishrags to wrenches to chainsaws, range from domestic to menacing, and yet, as a body of work, address the question of the proper role of the contemporary woman. Reemtsen’s answer to that is quite simple – anything! Anonymous torsos, the women remain beautiful representations of the feminine with which anyone can identify."
In terms of technique, Reemtsen’s work, with its thick impasto, represents a masterly handling of paint, which can be seen throughout her oeuvre of women.
5. Lauren Santa Domingo's magical pool. Her entire home is featured in August's issue of Vogue. It's a beautiful, off beat mixture of modern and traditional elements. 6. I slather Kiehl's masque on every night before bed and wake up with very hydrated skin!

Love the look - weekend get away - Interior Design 2016
Hello! I hope your week is going well. I have snuck away the past two weekends for some rest and well, FUN! I wanted to take advantage of the final days of summer with and without my children. I've got packing down to a bit of a science, less is more but I have to include certain staples. Here's a peek at what may be in my bag.
1. A great watch
2. Face cream. I am mildly obsessed with my skin care routine.
3. I own this L.L. Bean bag in x-large, I had large, hot pink initials monogrammed on the front. I love it and highly recommend it for weekend escapes. I wish it had a zipper but if you're only putting it in your car, it's perfect.
4. Adidas - Stan Smiths with gold accents.
5. Lip balm
6. A cute top to throw on for dinner or out for drinks.
7. A cozy cotton sweater for chilly evenings.
8. My JBL speaker.
9. Slides
10. A great read. American Spy, made Obama's summer reading list, it is receiving stellar reviews.
11. Cute, relaxed jeans.
12. Tank and short pajamas - I can't sleep in anything but this style.

Emily Henderson's weekend escape - Interior Design 2016
I'm drawn to a number of different types of architecture, I personally enjoy living in a home that has a relaxed vibe and a bit of California casual ranch style. Emily's newly renovated vacation home, located an hour and a half from L.A., is full of Scandinavian influences, lofty ceilings and beautiful light. Emily enlisted her 80,000 blog readers to help make choices with the design decisions. Emily's next book, due out in the Fall of 2020, documents her restoration and is full of tips, tricks and lessons learned while renovating a project. Images via House Beautiful. Ulla Johnson - Amagansett - Interior Design 2016
New York native and designer, Ulla Johnson, hosted an evening dock side dinner party at Duryea's Lobster Deck in Montauk last Saturday night. The party was in celebration of Ulla's newest boutique location in Amagansett, N.Y... The store design is as carefree and sophisticated feeling as her layered fabrics and beautiful prints. Ulla's globally inspired clothing is unique, bohemian and always chic. Shop her pieces here.
