Fall is officially here next Monday and with it, a slew of fabulous styles. Updated classics and modern twists on wardrobe basics prevail. Fall color palette - camel, black and cream - Interior Design 2016

Warm neutrals work beautifully year round but are especially appreciated during the cooler New England weather. Crisp, clean black tones add the perfect amount of contrast and interest when paired camel, nutmeg and cream. Today I'm sharing a selection of rooms that beautifully utilize this layered and lovely color palette. This look also translates nicely to your wardrobe.

 and for your closet.

Shelter Loves... - Interior Design 2016

HELLO AND HAPPY FRIDAY!! I love my career but boy do Fridays always feel good. Here's what is on my radar this week! Enjoy the gorgeous weekend.

1.  I always like to add a few vintage pieces to my projects, vintage lighting is a fantastic way to introduce a gorgeous element. I did a similar fixture in a recent project. Find this one here. 1970 is considered vintage I guess??! lol
2. I appreciate stylish sneakers, they serve two functions: they look cool and they are comfortable. I used to wear them with wide leg suits in my 20's (which is still a thumbs up idea). They can be worn with almost any style! These are my next Fall purchase.
3. Amen.
4. New York was full of creative people for Fashion week Spring/Summer 2020. Look for neon, sheer materials, more animal prints and British plaids next Spring. Street style snaps are my favorite. Photo by: Tyler Joe for Elle. See the beautiful neon shades out this Fall here
5. Caned furniture....
6. Hand-blocked bedding. These layer well with stripes and other prints. These are from a French shoppe.

Current Crush: Lucia LaFerme and her botanical dyes - Interior Design 2016

Lucia LaFerme natural botanically dyed french linen bedding and silk pillowcases
Californian based bodyworker and natural dye enthusiast Lucia LaFerme has become a bit of a Instagram crush of mine recently, with her scrumptious plant dyed silk self care sleep kits and Botanically dyed French Linen Bedding. Her instagram page is unsurprisingly also a visual feast and I love to see little glimpses of artists home life, especially when its as beautiful as Lucia's.

I have included below a selection of her beautiful pictures, and although Lucia does dye in colours other than yellows and oranges with Autumn on its way have decided to stick to this glorious glowing warm orange. I urge you to check out her work and visit her shop either via her instagram or via her online shop LuciaLaferme.com.

Inspired by Lucia's work I have just before submitting this post made myself a turmeric dye bath for my string shopping bag.... wish me luck!!

Go Bold.... - Interior Design 2016

Wow! It's so nice to be back at my desk full time! I know that sounds crazy..I am feeling  inspired lately. I also have some VERY exciting projects finishing up and in the works. As most of my readers and clients know, I'm not afraid to use color or mix patterns. I find layered, unexpected homes excite me. Cameron Ruppert's work is cheery and bold. Playing it too safe in life and design can get, well: BORING...Here's some colorful inspiration on this Tuesday morning.

shelter loves... - Interior Design 2016

I hope you smoothly transitioned into the back to school routine. I've mentioned it before but I am ready for some structure at home and a CALM September. (besides living on a soccer field) I am excited to build fires in my fireplace, finish up my new office space, organize my home and get back to preparing recipes using fresh in-season foods. Here's what I'm loving this week:

1. Layered dressing. The "puff" sleeve and feminine bows are making a come back this season. Here is a cute puff sleeve top. I find this style very flattering.
2. I fully appreciate flowers that bloom into the Fall season. Dahlia's are available in a number of varieties, shapes and colors. They make a fantastic cutting garden.
3. I have a thing for great camel colored boots. Camel matches almost any shade and is a nice break from black. These booties are made in Italy and would surely become a wardrobe staple.
4. Try matching the trim to the walls for an updated, unique look in a room or two. I love how this room mixes modern and more classic elements.
5. Eleanor was a wise women. Sometimes we ignore our instincts, I find they are more often than not, spot on. Follow your heart.
6. I purchased this body wash recently. It's fabulous!! I'm hooked.
