Refresh - Interior Design 2016

Aside from a design site visit here and there during these uneasy times, I feel fortunate that I can work remotely in my new home office. Spending all this time at home is certainly making me want to hit the refresh button around here. I'm cleaning like a crazy person, picking up after my kids and plan on making some design changes very soon. Here are a few ways to refresh your home while you're stuck inside. I'm also taking my workout routine outdoors as much as possible! Why not start Spring training?! We all need to keep our sanity and health.

I hope you're all staying safe and healthy. We're all in this together. xx

1. Declutter and dust your bedroom and purchase new bedding! I've been drawn to light, clean looking sheets and bedding. New bedding and re -arranging bedside tables, dresser and console tables can make your room feel new again. A simple bedroom is a peaceful one.

2. Rehang or finally hang your artwork

3. Arrange flowers indoors - nothing lifts the spirits like fresh flowers. (Images via)

4. Clear counters and rearrange shelves, drawers and storage in kitchen.

Don't I wish

5. Create your own artwork. The kids would love this too! I have done this several times and am ready to create a new piece.

6. Donate, consign and re-organize the closets in your home.

7. Move accessories, artwork + furniture to different rooms and create new furniture layouts in your home. It is also a great time to edit.

Shelter Loves - Interior Design 2016

I hope everyone is staying sane and positive during these crazy times. At least we have some nice weather to enjoy outdoors. I'll be going for a walk with my kiddos soon. Here's what's on my mind besides the obvious. Wishing you all peace of mind and much health. xx

1. Travel photographer Kara Rosenlund. I would love to find a spot for one of her oversized photographs in my home. I am running out of wall space.
2. + 3.  As I've mentioned in the past Athena Calderone's kitchen is one of my absolute favorites. Her latest book. Live Beautiful, was released last week. It looks like a beauty, I'll be adding it to my collection.
4. I'm keep life in perspective lately.
5. This will be one of my Spring go to looks. A striped top with red pants is a show stopper. via Maria Bernad.
6. I'm appreciating the simple things that make life sweeter. Using this coconut body wash would be the perfect way to start any day, especially stressful ones.

Love the look - Spring uniform - Interior Design 2016

I'm well aware everyone is distracted and worried by the current health crisis. Wishing all my readers much health, especially those with compromised immune systems, elderly relatives or very young children. Here's a little mindless distraction for you...I mentioned I pared down my closet recently. I was not as successful as my friend, Rachel, at keeping only (66) items! I've been planning out simple but stylish looks in my mind. Here is one...I'll call it my "Spring uniform".  xx

Day Dreamy - A garden inspired home. - Interior Design 2016

I truly appreciate and desire a home that has a strong connection to the outdoors. I hope to expand my own outdoor living areas this summer. I'd like to beautify and develop my yard and seating areas (or lack there of). This week, I came across this gorgeous home's property along with the rooms that beautifully adjoin the gardens and pool.  I envision prepping home-cooked meals in the classic kitchen, entertaining and dining on the patio and potting flowers in the gardening nook. Every bit of this home, designed by Peter Dunham, in Newport Beach home is dreamy! (See images more in this month's Veranda Magazine.) Photography: David Tsay

Cottage Love - #70 - Interior Design 2016

If this gorgeous sixty degree weather doesn't motivate you to brighten up your home, I'm not sure what would.

I was recently flipping through this month's Southern Living magazine and came across designer, Kara Hebert's lovely, cheerful home located in Southern Florida. Kara's designs are full of color, pattern, texture and vintage furniture + art. As my followers remember, I ran a monthly series sharing my favorite cottage style homes. (I believe I am up to #70!) Some of the homes were larger while others were quaint but all embraced comfort, attention to detail, interesting color palettes and loads of charm. Kara's home certainly embodies all four. I have long been a follower of her beautiful inspiring Instagram account. One upside of social media are the connections made to other creatives, artists and interior designers around the country and world. Wishing you a wonderful week. Look for more "cottage love" on my blog in the upcoming months....xx

Shelter Loves.... - Interior Design 2016

Hello Friday! I've been inspired by so much lately and am working on some lovely projects. Here is what I'm adoring this week:

1. Clean, inviting bed rooms with crisp linen sheets
2. Velvet ribbon.
3. I often see the question - What is your favorite jean? My answer: Rag and Bone. They fit me really well and are flattering
4. My latest favorite fashion muse is Caroline Duar. I've been following her funky style this Spring during Fashion week.
5. I've been working on an exciting side project and I've always loved beautiful paper but I do more than ever. I think I need to get scalloped envelopes for my business correspondence cards.
6. 💜
7. Manicured lawns and beautiful windows. #Additiongoals

Love the Look - Spring Fashion Inspiration - Interior Design 2016

We really can't complain about the winter in New England this year. It's been a blessing, I actually can't believe it's already March and we haven't had one snow storm.  With that said, I'm ready for the change of season and the warmth, longer days and green trees that ushers in. I spent about eight hours over a few days clearing out my closet. I donated and consigned a bunch of clothing + shoes. I have a short list of new items I'd like to update my wardrobe with. I even discovered some pieces tucked  away that I'll restyle with existing staples. A fresh perspective is what I'm looking for...Today, I'm sharing six looks you can create with existing pieces or by adding a few high quality wardrobe items to the mix + a pop of color.

1. WHITE PANT, pair them with just about anything.

2. THE BLACK BLOUSE,  dressed up or down, is a sexy must have.

3. THE WHITE T-SHIRT, layered or alone. + THE STATEMENT NECKLACE/BAG or SHOE

4. SOMETHING PINK + OR PEACH, this is a favorite color of mine.

5. A WHITE TOP WITH INTERESTING SLEEVES + DETAIL.

6. THE PRINTED DRESS
