Shelter Loves... - Interior Design 2016
I've been in a classically modern state of mind this week. Between working on client projects and brainstorming for my new website I keep going back to strong classic bones with a fresh modern approach. Wishing you a wonderful weekend! Here is a peek at my recent pins...
1. Mark D. Sikes has released his first book titled "Beautiful". His timeless style and love of blue and white speak to me. Each room pictured is better than the next, his work is inspiring.
2. I have always adored a nautical sailor pant. All those gold buttons? Yes please. Purchase these here. I would own these for the rest of my life.
3. I rarely leave home without studs on. In fact I think I need these in my life, they're so pretty.
4. Oscar was a smart man.
5. I tore this Mark Sikes room out of HB last mouth! I adore the mix of color. I'm finishing up my daughter's room and am leaning towards using a headboard!

Love the look - New York Spring Fashion Week! - Interior Design 2016
Don't you just love Thursdays? Me too. NYFW for Spring 2017 winds down today, and don't think I haven't had my eye on the shows, the spectators and the fun street style. There were some reoccurring themes across most of the design houses. They were nostalgia (especially inspiration taken from the 30's, 40's, 70's), COLOR: yellow, green, bright pink, you name it, nature (flowers and more flowers) and feminine details to name a few. Here's a sample of what I loved....
Tory Burch:
the beautiful prints, feminine details and preppy moments caught this New England girl's eye. Plus I a sucker for parrot green, always have been.
Rag and Bone:
Structured jackets and British prep. This jacket is adorable and certainly makes sense for Springtime in Boston.
Oscar de la Renta
I have long loved Oscar de la Renta's design beautiful creations. Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia will be at the helm soon. The current studio design team did not disappoint with their lighthearted, happy designs.
I love classically modern looks like this one! |
J. Crew is often my go to brand. As a designer I can dress creatively. My outfits are never too serious and are often layered, with a bit of prep and little edge. The embellishments and color palette were phenom! I can't wait to get my hands on all of these pieces!! Note: ruffles are huge for spring!!
YES please to this entire outfit! |
Tommy Hilfiger - Ready-to-Wear
Lawd knows Tommy can perfect a fashion show but this one was off the charts; located on the South street seaport pier with a cruise ship and all, each piece was available for purchase immediately. He's a master at creating a buzz and fusing pop culture + fashion. The nautical meets street wear was a favorite look and Gigi Hadid is adorable. This is a win, win collaboration! Oh and everyone needs a pair of nautical pants and a leather jacket and now we don't need to wait for them! Watch the entire show and purchase the items here!! -
Gigi will be sharing these looks via social media over the next six months..follow her here, Iol, if you already don't!!
I NEED this entire outfit. |
The sailor pant is very popular for Fall and Spring |
Annnd the go to shoe for Spring?? You guessed it. The mule!

The Hideaway, Bali - Interior Design 2016
Hideout Bali |
Ummm wow!!
It probably won't surprise you to know I am a bit partial to searching airbnb and finding cool places to stay. My latest search obsession is Bali, and my recent dreamy find is The Hideaway in Selat, Bali.
The eco bamboo home is hidden in the mountains of Gunung Agung volcano and is the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of modern life... there isn't even a lockable door!!
The home was built and handcrafted in 2015 by Alena, originally from The Czech republic and was built with the support of many local workers, the bamboo coming from a local village.

small space, big style! - Interior Design 2016
Happy Hump day y'all! I was typing up an assignment yesterday that included tips for living in tiny spaces. I've always know good things come in small packages. I mean it's no secret that being a single Mama and living near the water required me to purchase a smallish home! I need to be pretty selective on what I bring into my house and I store the items I don't use down stairs. I'm sure they'll come in handy when I expand or move but for now I'm enjoying my finished abode! I had a goal to purchase and revamp a home for my kids and I. To check that box feels pretty damn good.....
Here's proof when fabulous style is concerned, size does not matter! I've long admired Lindsey Coral Harper's designs and I just ADORE her 700 sq. foot New York flat. You're welcome for the eye candy...;) All images via House Beautiful.

Mixing vintage and new items adds interest and coziness to small spaces. (or any space for that matter) |
You can decide how much you'd like to layer or not. Here Lindsey stacks and stores her books and beautiful objects. |

California cool - Interior Design 2016
Ahhh, California living, you certainly speak to me. When I can't jet across the country I read my favorite blogs, magazines and insta accounts for inspiration. Today, I stumbled across this gorgeous home designed by Modal design and Jamie Bush in C Magazine . The juxtaposition of natural elements against architectural moments is fresh, unexpected and you got it, inspiring! I'm always on the hunt for fabulous chairs, I spy a few beauties here!!
These stools and that chair?? Fabulous! |

Shelter Loves..... - Interior Design 2016
Happy Monday! I wasn't able to post my "loves" last Friday, so here they are! There's a LOT on my creative radar lately. I'm in the process of having a new website and logo designed, I'm pretty pumped up about that!! Be on the look out later this fall for our 'fresh' approach and feel on Shelter. Here is what I'm bananas over lately!!!! (we use that word around here quite a bit lately)
1. Ooookay! So I need these SK8's! I want the leather pale pink with gold zippers..but they are available in slew of colors and styles...
2. The midi boot with a covered heel and cropped jean is my go to look this Fall....I am also eyeing this menswear blazer!!
3. Working on this daily.....
4. Chloe is hands down one of my favorite fashion lines. The pieces are timeless and flattering but always different. This lil bag would be perfect for a casual night out with friends. I try to embody Gaby's vision within my own work for clients!!
MAISON CHLOÉ
“All I’ve ever wanted was for Chloé to have a happy spirit, to make people happy.”
GABY AGHION
5. I've always had a love of hand thrown pottery. I even took a class in my twenties and will do it again when my life slows down. (so, yes in about ten years) Jim Franco's work is incredible. I could scoop up every piece. There is something about dining and serving from a handmade bowl/dish that feels very special to me. Check out his amazing work here.6. Ahhhh to to live in Hollywood. Estee Stanley and Jessica Biel's au fudge concept is brilliant! I adore every nook and cranny of this creative space/restaurant/market place. They even have Nanny's to watch over your children while you sip on bubbly and enjoy yummy eats. In my next life I'm living in LA! I love the idea of a restaurant that caters to both adults and children, cheers to that.
Peace out - have a great day!

Tea Review: Williamson Tea and the Wildlife trust - Interior Design 2016
I LOVE tea.
Totally utterly love it. One of the hardest things about being pregnant wasn't that i had to give up alcohol or (finally) quit smoking but shock horror I had to restrict my Earl Grey tea consumption.... and decaf just won't do....
I have noticed in recent years that Tea is finally regaining popularity and standing up to its intense partner in crime, coffee. Tea is kinda like Coffee's more mellow cousin :)
So I thought I would start a series to showcase some of the best teas there are out there, to help budding tea drinkers choose the brands and of course small independent makers that are not only producing tea, but doing it ethically and conscientiously.
Earl Grey with Blue flowers |
Williamsons Tea
So I got in touch with Williamson's'. Williamson's tea caught my eye as I had seem their beautiful Elephant tea caddies. They are also a conscientious brand that have set up the Williamson Tea Foundation to help look after their farms and farmers, invest in Climate smart agriculture and conservation of the land.
They are also working with The David Sheldrick Wildlife trust, the most successful orphan elephant rescue and rehabilitation program in the world and one of pioneering conservation organisations for wildlife and habitat protection in East Africa. At the heart of DSWT’s conservation activities is the ‘Orphans project’ which has achieved world wide acclaim through it’s hugely successful elephant and rhino rescue and rehabilitation program.
So they may be a bigger brand, but as you can see they are defininitly a brand I am happy to endorse and as it turns out they make really good tea!!!!!!
The Review
Williamson's sent me their Art Deco caddy with Mint garden Tea, Earl grey with Blue flowers and a cute enamel elephant mug....
Close up contents of a Blue Flower Earl Grey |
Any tea drinker will understand the disappointment of a rubbish cup of tea...... but with an Earl Grey drinker this worrying anticipation when someone offers to make you a brew is heightened, the mistake that is often made is not leaving the tea bag in long enough for the flavours to come out, you can sadly be left with a weak, bland drink.....
This Earl Grey though gave a really rich deep colour and flavor pretty quickly and when you open the bag you can see why. A good quality tea should have larger pieces that don't resemble tea dust. This tea had big chunks, and true to its name lots of pretty little blue flowers :)
Now, I may be a tea snob, but actually many Earl Grey drinkers would recoil in horror as I do add milk..... but as you can see from the picture below the colour is perfect!! No weak incipid cuppa for me. In fact this was actually a pretty rich flavour for an Earl Grey and I really enjoyed it.
I would definitely recommend this tea and it actually really puts my faithful old brand to shame, I have been converted!!
Perfect Colour!!!! |
Mint Garden
So as I said, I have admired Williamson's Elephant Tea caddys for a few years and now finally have one of my very own. Within this beautiful Art Deco tea caddy (top picture) was Mint Garden, a great combination of Mint and Green tea. it was a really beautiful refreshing blend and I will most definitely be buying this again!!
The caddy also looks really cool on my shelf ..... These caddys come in a range of colours, they would make a perfect present and could quite easily become a bit of a collection obsession!!
Thank you so much to Williamson's tea, I am converted :)
