Laura Gabe's Rowayton home has the perfect mix of art, antiques and a casual coastal vibe. Together with friend, Laura Jayson they started El Co a design, consulting and development business. They also rent out their vintage caravan bar (see photo below) for parties and weddings. Here are their tips for entertaining, just in time for summer. Happy July! Entertaining, El Co–Style

Craft a Signature Cocktail
“Coming up with the names is half the fun,” says Grabe, who dubbed one jalapeño tequila concoction Endless Bummer to toast the end of the season at a Labor Day block party.

Music, Music, Music
“A mix of current hits and classics—anything from Laura Branigan’s ‘Gloria’ to Taylor Swift. Rihanna is always a good idea, too,” suggests Grabe.

Set the Mood
Style the area accordingly—threading firefly lights between the trees to give off a summer holiday glow or serving Rhubarb Fizz in vintage boat barware. “Use seasonal flowers and greenery to bring it all home,” says Grabe.

Hire Funny Bartenders
“They can keep the party going,” Grabe notes. Mise en place is also essential, so do all the prep work for garnishes beforehand—infuse the tequila, squeeze the limes, stack the glasses.

The playroom has a bohemian look, with layered mudcloth pillows and washed out wood work.

Shelter Loves - Interior Design 2016

Hello lovies!! We're about to kick off one of my FAVORITE weekends and weeks! I'm looking forward to logging a few days at the beach and enjoying good food & time with friends. I will be blogging next Monday and Tuesday, check back for my July 4th outfit ideas on Monday and a beautiful summer inspired home on Tuesday! Here is what's on my mind today.

1. The 4th and all it's glory!!

2. Anything French, including Sezane dresses. They are perfect for all of those cookouts.

3. and 6. THIS!!!! I am pretty guilty of not only coveting the perfect size "2" bodies on the beach but obsessing over the areas of mine that I don't like. As I get older, I am trying to embrace my curves and the areas that I'd like to look a bit different. I realize I am not going to look 23 again - Two C-sections later and a love of food and wine, I am focusing on what I like about me. I am also thankful for my health. Sophia is beautiful and always seemed confident with her curves.

4. Now onto the food,,,lol. I like to cook and especially love putting together crudite boards. I will be creating one in the morning.

5. Cozy and inviting moments, this bedroom is precious.

The Country Home - Interior Design 2016

I am heading up to Vermont for a very quick trip but I am in need of some strawberry picking and fresh air. Things are simpler in the country and sometimes that is a great thing. I'll be back tomorrow, refreshed and ready to tackle more projects! This beautiful home located in New York, is updated just enough, the classic bones and beautiful finishes give just the right nod to the past without feeling stale and predictable. Cedar Shakes - Interior Design 2016

Cedar Shingles are my first choice of siding for a house! They look as beautiful weathered as they do new! Dip them in stain or leave them to weather naturally, you can't go wrong with this classic look on the exterior of your home.

They even look fabulous inside!

Coastal Living - Interior Design 2016

Lazy days at the beach, dining al fresco, warm sunny days, outdoor showers, picking flowers, lemonade stands, dips in the pool, these are just a few of the things I am looking forward to this summer. Spending my days by the ocean is truly a blessing. Here's a peek at two seaside homes, one large and one small, but both lovely! Enjoy the escape. xx
