Shelter Loves - Interior Design 2016

I'm trying to find a balance between staying informed and keeping calm. I've taken a much needed break from the news today and have been enjoying getting some work done in my sun-filled office. I am very thankful to have this new space now that I am mainly working from home. It does feel better that we're in this together. I truly hope you, your family members and friends are staying healthy. That's the most important goal right now. xx

My design work and blogging have been a wonderful distraction along with getting outdoors to enjoy the fresh air. Besides the obvious, here is what is on my mind. I believe when we conquer this health crisis (many of you may have been doing this already) we'll hit the reset button on our lives with a fresh approach to our thinking and a focus on what is truly important. I know I'll be thrilled to spend time with my family and friends. Stay healthy and safe ....xx

1. Some of the best days of our lives have yet to happen. Carry that thought with you.
2. Think of how gorgeous all of our yards will be when the weather warms up. I know I plan to get out and do some yard work in the upcoming weeks.
3. We could all use a pair of rose colored glasses right about now.
4. I adore Jane Winchester's jewelry and will be buying myself this pendant and chain at some point.
5. Gauzy white tops and comfortable pants are going to be my "go to" this summer. I'm nervous to try my jeans on after all the extra snacking and wine consumption I've experienced these past two weeks.
6. Are you over cooking yet? I need some new dinner ideas and bought the ingredients for this sheet pan recipe. The less clean up the better. The New York Times cooking section has shared a number of recipes....check them out.

Love the look - lounge wear - Interior Design 2016

Happy First Day of Spring! I'm typically sharing my favorite Spring fashions to wear to work or out and about, but sadly we're in a place that none of us could have ever imagined. I hope you are all keeping your sanity (for the most part) and staying healthy! The news is certainly upsetting, as is being in social isolation, especially on the rainy days. However, there have been some bright spots... For one, the photographs of the Venice canals showing the clearest water the Italians have seen in decades.  I, like most of you, am working from home with kids running around (or unfortunately, glued to their devices). I've been doing my best to motivate my children in the morning. We all wash up and get dressed, even if it's in comfy, lounge wear. I find it pretty deflating hanging out in pajamas all day. I have no choice but to keep up a daily routine and I think it's important for my children to do this too. I've pulled together some ideas for you that are both comfortable and practical for your days at home and (hopefully) outdoors!! I've been sneaking in a walk and run when I can. Stay sane and safe! xx

Reading Hour. - Interior Design 2016

Since we're all "mostly" stuck in the same boat (so to speak), why not spend some time reading? I enjoy escaping with a book but sometimes can't find an hour to sit down and read, now there's no excuse. I have been more diligent about reading in 2020 and am currently on this one. Today, I'm suggesting some great reads along with some inspiration on creating a cozy reading corner in your own home.

I also want to take this time to extend a special thank you to those who have to report to work...doctors, nurses, first responders, grocery store workers and those that are keeping our world running. We are both thankful and appreciative of you. I am also going to do my part and best to support small, local and business in general. We're all going to feel the economic stress of this. I am staying positive and I believe if we are smart today, we can hopefully slow down and eventually stop this virus. Stay well. xx

Inspiration..... Small Gardens and potted plants - Interior Design 2016

Beautiful Small gravel garden with potted plants

So the world has got a little intense but as a hospital worker and mother my two main aims for the up coming months are to keep myself grounded and healthy and to protect my son from too much anxiety. But I also really am feeling the need to return to Moon to Moon to post some beautiful relaxing natural homes and gardens...... to create my own little pocket of the internet that is free from anxities.... I hope you will join me ;)
Potted plants for a small Natural garden

Todays post is inspired by my need to design my garden around a pesky (massive understatement) bamboo problem meaning grass is sadly out of the question........so remembering the beautiful gravel garden in the top photo a gravel based garden it is!! Im thinking gravel, potted plants, a compost heap and potentially a raised pond are the way forward for my tiny city garden, bringing in wildlife whilst remainng functional.... the ultimate place to chill....woo hoo!

What do you think?

Curved lines giving this small garden the illusion of more depth

A beautiful cement water feature

I love the use of ferns to create a tropical effect in this small garden
Terrecota pots, timeless classic

Refresh - Interior Design 2016

Aside from a design site visit here and there during these uneasy times, I feel fortunate that I can work remotely in my new home office. Spending all this time at home is certainly making me want to hit the refresh button around here. I'm cleaning like a crazy person, picking up after my kids and plan on making some design changes very soon. Here are a few ways to refresh your home while you're stuck inside. I'm also taking my workout routine outdoors as much as possible! Why not start Spring training?! We all need to keep our sanity and health.

I hope you're all staying safe and healthy. We're all in this together. xx

1. Declutter and dust your bedroom and purchase new bedding! I've been drawn to light, clean looking sheets and bedding. New bedding and re -arranging bedside tables, dresser and console tables can make your room feel new again. A simple bedroom is a peaceful one.

2. Rehang or finally hang your artwork

3. Arrange flowers indoors - nothing lifts the spirits like fresh flowers. (Images via)

4. Clear counters and rearrange shelves, drawers and storage in kitchen.

Don't I wish

5. Create your own artwork. The kids would love this too! I have done this several times and am ready to create a new piece.

6. Donate, consign and re-organize the closets in your home.

7. Move accessories, artwork + furniture to different rooms and create new furniture layouts in your home. It is also a great time to edit.

Shelter Loves - Interior Design 2016

I hope everyone is staying sane and positive during these crazy times. At least we have some nice weather to enjoy outdoors. I'll be going for a walk with my kiddos soon. Here's what's on my mind besides the obvious. Wishing you all peace of mind and much health. xx

1. Travel photographer Kara Rosenlund. I would love to find a spot for one of her oversized photographs in my home. I am running out of wall space.
2. + 3.  As I've mentioned in the past Athena Calderone's kitchen is one of my absolute favorites. Her latest book. Live Beautiful, was released last week. It looks like a beauty, I'll be adding it to my collection.
4. I'm keep life in perspective lately.
5. This will be one of my Spring go to looks. A striped top with red pants is a show stopper. via Maria Bernad.
6. I'm appreciating the simple things that make life sweeter. Using this coconut body wash would be the perfect way to start any day, especially stressful ones.

Love the look - Spring uniform - Interior Design 2016

I'm well aware everyone is distracted and worried by the current health crisis. Wishing all my readers much health, especially those with compromised immune systems, elderly relatives or very young children. Here's a little mindless distraction for you...I mentioned I pared down my closet recently. I was not as successful as my friend, Rachel, at keeping only (66) items! I've been planning out simple but stylish looks in my mind. Here is one...I'll call it my "Spring uniform".  xx
