Shelter Loves.. - Interior Design 2016

Hello! I typically share this series on Friday but I'm a bit behind schedule because of the kid's winter break. This month I've been drawn to inviting spaces, soft plush fabrics and pretty pastels .. I've loved spending as much time as possible running, walking, skiing and generally enjoying the outdoors this winter. We've been very fortunate with the weather! I've also been simplifying my home and closets. Too much clutter in my life feels suffocating. I've been donating lots of things and am going to focus on saving more and spending money only on things that I love! I tend to gravitate towards what is new in my life anyway, I also tend to hold onto older clothing and items for too long. Letting go and getting organized feels incredible!

1. I've tried a number of face oils and this is by far my favorite. Beautycounter products are clean and work very well on my skin year round. 
2. I'm trying to simply and am going to share my favorite outfits of the moment with you all tomorrow. You may be able to put the looks together with items you already own. Pretty white blouses with jeans and a fun shoe or bootie is a go to look for me. Blouses I am loving: this one and this one. 
3. Pause and breathe. My 2020 mantra! 
4.  I don't eat tons of sweets but when I do, they need to be worth it. This orange, salted honey cake is gorgeous. My daughter loves to bake and I'm making more time for special moments with her. We may challenge ourselves to make it - I'm not promising it will look this perfect. 
5. Graphic rugs to layer under cozy furniture arrangements. This wool version would finish off a room beautifully. 
6. We spent a few days in Vermont last week. The fresh air and scenery work wonders for the mind and body. Here's a peek at the Twin Farms resort, located in Barnard, V.T.. It's down the hill from my parent's home and looks magnificent. 
7. Bohemian style dresses. I am love with this one but not the price tag.

The home of...... Frankie and Sol Bergstein (Grace and Frankie) - Interior Design 2016

Today is valentines day and as sadly I am working a night shift, I thought I would share with you all a little something special....... The home of the Bergstein's aka Frankie and Sol, from the Netflix Show Grace and Frankie.

Dont get me wrong the beach house is nice and all but Frankies house is where its at!! I have been meaning to do a post of Frankie and Sol's beautiful home since the first series came out 5 years ago (May 2015 to be exact), so here it is courtesy of some slightly dodgy screenshots from my ipad, haha! There are a fair few of the living room as that stunning mustard couch, mud cloth cusions and sculptures are just so special.

The interiors for the prgramme were designed by Beuchamp Fontaine (can i have this job please!), who beleived that "Sol and Frankie Bergsteins home would have been inspired by their travels and love of art rather than any desire to keep up with the latest trends..... I imagine they brought most of their furniture when Sol first started making money and would have never replaced it"

The real home belonged to a ceramist and a sculpturist and many of the items were from their personal collection. Other items were from Omega Cinema Props.

The home of.... Instagrammer Lisa Loves Vintage - Interior Design 2016

Lisa Loves Vintage :

Since Grace and Frankie began I have been dreaming of a beautiful blue kitchen like the one in that dreamy beach house, but have been a bit scared by the thought of such a dark colour in my otherwise very white walled house.

A few weeks ago I came across the Birmingham (UK) home of Instagrammer Lisa Piddington aka Lisa_loves_vintage and my obsession with painting my kitchen blue was reignighted. I just love that rich colour and pared with some green sploshes and house plants, it really works and doesnt fall into the trap of being too gloomy.

I love it..... what do you think?

Shelter Loves... - Interior Design 2016

Right around mid-February I begin dreaming of pretty flowers, pastels hues and warmer weather. This week I've been especially drawn to pale shades of pink and petite flower prints. Below is a glimpse of what's on my mind....

1. This cozy womb chair covered in sheep hair would be the perfect place to curl up on a chilly night with a book and cup of tea. I've been sticking to my 2020 plan of reading more! I've finished one book and I've almost completed another.
2. This Parisian kitchen has just enough detail to keep it interesting. The warm counter tops mixed with brass details are delightful. 
3. I aim to "focus on the good" even on the most dreadful of days. I figure if my children and family are healthy and we are living in a warm home with plenty of food, everything else is manageable. In fact, a positive attitude seems to really help as does the occasional good cry. 
4. I find the life story of Luchita Hurtado inspiring and fascinating, in 2016 at the age of 97 she had her first solo art show since the 1970's. At 99, her career and outlook is still going strong. I'd love to see her work in person - I'll add this goal to my bucket list. 

5. I am adoring petite, feminine floral prints. This top is sweet. 
6. Pretty tableware especially three dimensional plates in soft springy hues. The Dodie Thayer lettuce ware collection in collaboration with Tory Burch is beautiful and heirloom worthy. I'd feel like a queen dining on these, even by myself.

There's no way around winter in New England. I figure if you can't beat the cold you might as well embrace it. I'll be heading skiing for a couple days with my kids during their winter break in a couple of weeks. I'm not sure what I like better, the skiing or the gear. (wink, wink). Inspired - France - Interior Design 2016

Hello there! I promise I have not fallen off the face of the earth. My career has been taking up much of my life but I am happy to share, that I'm full of fresh inspiration and beautiful design ideas to share with you! I came across this incredible photo shoot while pulling together a design project. EVERY single detail is incredible. I'm pretty sure I need to incorporate "french blue" on a project very soon.
